Astra Can Use a Computer. Most Agencies Still Brief a Chatbot.

OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 Astra this week and called it the AGI era. NVIDIA confirmed a $12.9 billion deal for Hugging Face. Google shipped Gemini 3.8 Flash. Anthropic cut the cost of agent work. That is not a news cycle. That is the week models stopped wanting a prompt and started wanting a desk.
Layer 1. Operators, not chatbots
Astra is built for computer use, software engineering, and multi-step professional work. OpenAI says it hits 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3 and finishes computer-use tasks about 47% faster than GPT-5.6 Sol. It is rolling out first to a limited set of organizations, then to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise over the coming days.
Greg Brockman said it is not unreasonable to feel we are now in the AGI era. I am less interested in the slogan. I am interested in the job: book the appointment, build the file, finish the workflow. If your agency still treats frontier models like a smarter caption box, you are briefing last year's tool.
Layer 2. Cheap agents just got a factory
Same week, Gemini 3.8 Flash landed as Google's third Flash model in six weeks, priced like a workhorse at $0.75 / $3.75 per million tokens. Claude Fable 5.1 went generally available, and Anthropic says typical agentic workloads can cost up to 45% less than Fable 5.
Then NVIDIA bought Hugging Face, the GitHub for AI, for $12.9 billion. Jensen Huang pledged the platform stays open, multi-cloud, and multi-accelerator. Translate that for an agency: open models just got a bigger warehouse, and the cheap agent layer is no longer a side experiment.
Layer 3. Marketing and AI: the buy now happens inside the answer
ChatGPT Ads crossed $1 billion in annualized revenue in under 200 days. OpenAI says roughly one-fifth of queries already carry direct commercial intent, and self-serve Ads Manager is expanding across India, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
This is the part most teams will miss. If Astra can sit on a computer, it can also sit in the research step before the purchase. Your next media surface is not another feed. It is an answer engine. Brands that only optimize captions will watch the click happen inside someone else's reply.
Do this next
Pick one client workflow that currently dies in a chat window. Give Astra or Fable 5.1 the brief, the files, and the finish line. Then write one ChatGPT Ads test against a high-intent query you already lose to a generic answer.
Do not wait for the AGI debate to settle. Finish something this week.
