ChatGPT Ads Just Hit $1B. Agents Started Paying.

OpenAI's ChatGPT Ads just crossed a $1 billion annualized run rate. AWS flipped AgentCore payments to general availability, so an agent can discover an API and pay for it without waiting for a human. Meanwhile, most agency Slack threads I see are still debating the brief.

That's the week.

What actually moved

Gemini's standalone app passed 1 billion monthly users. DeepSeek shipped a 305B open multimodal model. OpenAI is cutting model access to Cursor after SpaceX bought the company. Vendor maps from last quarter are already stale.

None of that is the interesting part for agencies. Money started moving through the models.

ChatGPT is no longer just a writing box. It is an ad surface, with self-serve expanding into India and Europe. The EU already treats ChatGPT as a very large online search engine. A large share of searches now end without a click. Fortune 500 CMOs put generative engine optimization in the top three digital priorities. GEO is not a thought-leadership slide. It is where brand visibility is forming.

Marketing + AI: stop generating. Start getting chosen.

We've rebuilt how we think about AI-native marketing at Dzine Prodigy around two jobs.

  • LAYER 1 — Get cited. Write pages an answer engine can quote. Clear claims. Named outcomes. Proof a model can lift without touring your case-study carousel.

  • LAYER 2 — Let agents run the middle. Creative variations, fatigue flags, first-pass reporting. Humans keep taste, the offer, and the kill switch.

Generative AI drafts the work. Agentic AI moves the work. If your team only uses the first one, you bought a faster intern, not an edge.

Do this week

Pick one live offer. Write the page so an answer engine can cite it in two sentences. Then put one agent on a closed loop: generate three ad variants, watch the metric, pause the loser. Finish something. Don't add another tool to the stack and call it transformation.

That's how this week actually ships.
