Cheap Creative Just Got Expensive
OpenAI started rolling GPT-6 Astra this week and called it the AGI era. Anthropic already shipped Claude Fable 5.1. Google dropped Gemini 3.8 Flash and a cyber variant. NVIDIA paid $12.9 billion for Hugging Face.
If you run an agency, those are not four separate headlines. They are one pricing event.
What actually shipped
Astra hit 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3 with a provider adapter and runs about 70% more token-efficient than GPT-5.6 Sol. Price is $10 / $50 per million tokens. It is gated because it can use a computer and it can do real cyber work.
Claude Fable 5.1 is generally available. Cache reads dropped 75%. Agent work got cheaper overnight. Mythos stays behind a partner gate. Outputs now carry invisible watermarking.
Gemini 3.8 Flash and Flash Cyber landed two days later. Third Flash drop in six weeks. Flash Cyber scored 86.2% on CyberGym at Flash speed and price.
Hugging Face now sits under NVIDIA. Three million models. Eighteen million developers. Jensen says it stays open and multi-cloud. Fine. Who owns the default download page still matters.
The marketing cut nobody wants
Forrester already put the ugly number on the table. Nine in ten US marketing agencies use generative AI. Half are running agentic tools. The main reason is still staff productivity and cost. Only a sliver of clients even ask for growth as the first benefit.
That was a workable trade when models were a cheap draft engine. It is a liability now.
ChatGPT Ads is live and self-serve in more markets. Gemini AI Mode carries the Google Ads stack inside the answer. Your client is no longer only buying banners and captions. They are buying whether the brand shows up when someone asks a model, and whether the work still looks like them after twelve cheap variations.
Commodity creative used to be a margin play. This week made it the thing every other shop can also ship by Tuesday.
What we are doing at Dzine Prodigy
LAYER 1 — Stop shopping models like apps. Astra for computer-use work. Fable for long agent jobs. Flash for volume. Hugging Face for anything we want to own.
LAYER 2 — Brief for two audiences. Humans still watch the film. Agents quote the page. Source pages need facts, prices, proof. Not brand poetry.
LAYER 3 — Sell the system that stays on-brand after the next drop, not another pack of variations.
Do this next. Open one live brief. Run it through Fable and Flash. Keep the version a human would still sign. Kill the rest.
That is the week. Models got more capable. The open layer got a new owner. Taste is now the scarce part of the invoice.
