Disney Hired an AI Founder as CTO. Marketing Still Books Humans by Default.
Disney just hired the former CEO of Character.AI as its first chief technology officer. Same week, an AI actor named Tilly Norwood sat for 75 interviews at once and started slipping languages.
If you run a marketing agency, that is not entertainment gossip. That is the next talent brief landing on your desk.
What actually moved this week
LAYER 1 — The studio is not debating the tool.
Karandeep Anand starts October 2 and reports to Disney's CEO. Character.AI was built to make conversation feel like a person. Disney just parked that skill next to every franchise, park, and ad unit it owns. Hollywood did not ask whether AI talent is real. It hired the person who shipped it.
LAYER 2 — Synthetic talent is already on press tours.
Particle6 ran Tilly Norwood across 75 simultaneous interviews to promote a film. The avatar broke into Chinese mid-tour. The demo looked infinite. The QA did not. Volume is easy. A face that holds under questions is the product.
LAYER 3 — The label is no longer optional.
California already told advertisers to disclose AI-generated performers. US clients will ask you to ship the face and the disclaimer in the same file. If your process has no disclosure line, you do not have a process. You have a risk.
Marketing and AI: stop selling content. Sell a talent system.
AI for marketing agencies in 2026 is not another unlabeled carousel. It is three jobs on one desk.
A synthetic performer with a locked look, voice, and claim sheet.
A labeled conversation. OpenAI is already testing Sponsored Agents inside ChatGPT so the ad talks back, then walks the buyer to the site.
A human editor who kills the take that slips language, overpromises, or looks cheap at thumbnail size.
We would not put an unlabeled intern on a national shoot. Do not put an unlabeled model on a brand's face. Agentic AI will keep getting cheaper. Trust will not.
Do this next
Pick one product. Write a one-page talent bible: face rules, claims you will never say, disclosure line, kill criteria. Run five takes. Ship one labeled cut this week. I'm using this same lock at Dzine Prodigy before anything leaves the studio.
The model will keep changing. The brief should not.
