Salesforce Just Hired Job-Ready AI Agents. Marketing Still Writes Briefs.
Salesforce spent this week giving agents job titles. Piper. Hunter. Carter. Casey.
Not demos. Named roles that work inbound, outbound, and checkout for days without someone babysitting the thread.
Cool product launch.
Not the brief.
The brief is this: AI marketing agents just got org-chart names. Your agency is still selling a deck and three creatives on Thursday.
What actually shipped
LAYER 1 - Agents got job descriptions
On September 11, Salesforce rolled out job-ready Agentforce agents. Piper works websites and inboxes to qualify inbound. Hunter works a pipeline from research to outreach over weeks. Carter answers shoppers and checks out in chat. Casey handles service across voice, SMS, WhatsApp, and web.
Salesforce says Piper already surfaced $82.5 million in leads on its own site. Perk says Hunter now builds 60 percent of its sales pipeline. That is not a pilot slide. That is production work with a nameplate.
LAYER 2 - The runtime stopped being a science project
Two days earlier, OpenAI opened the Agents API in public beta. Sessions, tool coordination, context compaction, recovery. GPT-Live 1 went generally available at $0.05 a minute. You no longer need a six-month platform build to run a long-horizon agent. You need a brief, a brand kit, and an owner.
LAYER 3 - Marketing Cloud is next, not later
Marketing Cloud Next is shipping Agentforce marketers that go from strategy to on-brand content across channels. Self-optimizing campaigns. Brand Center as the source of truth. The creative team is no longer the bottleneck. Taste and governance are.
The marketing + AI section
This is the part agencies keep skipping.
If Piper can qualify a lead for three weeks, you cannot sell we will send three ads on Thursday. If Hunter can work a sequence for months, your retainer cannot be a content calendar with extra adjectives.
We are running this the same way at Dzine Prodigy. AI for marketing agencies in 2026 is not more drafts. It is agentic workflows with a human on the spend button.
Sell three things a client can feel this month:
A brand kit an agent cannot drift from. Colors, claims, banned phrases, offer math.
Answer-ready pages that Piper or ChatGPT can quote without inventing your pricing.
A named human owner on any agent that talks to a buyer or spends money.
Generative engine optimization plus production speed. That is the offer. Everything else is theatre.
Do this before Friday
Pick one live inbound flow.
Write the three answers an agent would need so it does not invent your pricing, your timeline, or your proof.
Then cap the first ten conversations with a human in the loop.
Agents got job titles this week. Give yours a manager.
